Mdm. Khor Gek Suan and Team Won Gold Award at iTaLiiC 2025

Mdm. Khor Gek Suan from the School of Languages, Literacies and Translation, together with three undergraduate students, has been awarded the Gold Award at the International Teaching & Learning Invention Innovation Competition 2025 (iTaLiiC 2025). The competition was organized by the Centre for Flexible Learning (CFL), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Cawangan Pulau Pinang.

The team's winning project, "Enhancing Vocal Technique Learning Through Gamified Education by Using Game-Based Voice Control, Voice Volume Catcher", is the result of their efforts. This project presents an innovative approach to teaching and learning in the field of vocal training, which can be used in the course WCC 109 (Choir). The project utilises gamified education, integrating interactive game-based voice control elements to monitor and enhance vocal techniques. By using the “Voice Volume Catcher” tool, learners are encouraged to engage more actively with the process of developing vocal skills and transforming traditional vocal training into a more interactive and enjoyable learning experience. This approach not only provides a fun and creative way to practise vocal techniques but also immediate feedback on their progress.
iTaLiiC is an international platform that brings together educators, researchers, and innovators to showcase inventive ideas and practical solutions in teaching and learning. The competition encourages creative approaches that address current educational challenges, with a strong focus on integrating technology, promoting learner engagement, and driving educational innovation. Winning the Gold Award at iTaLiiC 2025 underscores the high quality, originality, and impact of Mdm. Khor’s project.
This achievement reflects Mdm. Khor’s ongoing commitment to educational innovation. It also underscores the ability of creative education tools to meet the evolving needs of learners in a technology-driven environment. The success of this project demonstrates how integrating digital tools and gamification into the teaching and learning process can significantly improve both the effectiveness and the enjoyment of skill acquisition.
