 Welcome to School of Language Literacies and Translation (PPBLT)
 
The School of Languages, Literacies and Translation, USM Engineering Campus offers a number of language courses, namely Bahasa Malaysia, English and foreign languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Japanese and Russian).  Some of the courses, especially Bahasa Malaysia and English, are compulsory for graduation while other courses may be taken as electives or options.

The School works in an advisory-cum-secretarial capacity with terminology committees of other schools to formulate suitable terminologies in Bahasa Malaysia. Information about Bahasa Malaysia terminologies is made available to the University community. The School also provides translation and editing services. Translations are usually from Bahasa Malaysia into English and vice-versa. Both translation and editing services cover a wide range of written materials such as manuscripts, articles, pamphlets, messages, etc., including the original works of USM academic staff. Related services of the School include assisting the Publications Committee of USM to edit manuscripts and providing language consultancy services.
The School also offers graduate studies by research leading to a Master of Arts (M.A.) or a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) with a specialisation in areas such as English Language, TESL, CALL, Educational Technology, Bahasa Malaysia, Linguistics, Terminology, Translation, Interpretation and other language-related areas.The School is equipped with language laboratories, audio-visual equipment, multimedia computers and other facilities to enhance the language teaching and learning environment.
