Mdm. Khor Gek Suan from the School of Languages, Literacies and Translation with a student from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Engineering Campus were awarded Bronze Award during the International University Carnival on E-Learning 2023 (IUCEL 2023) under the category of Invention, Innovation & Design on e-learning (IIDEL) for both WCC109 Choir course and Mandarin Language Courses for LAC series.
Mdm. Khor and her team introduced the use of Yasuhati app and Scream Go Hero app to create an interesting course delivery for WCC109 Choir students and also and Mandarin Language Courses for LAC series students. ‘Learn In Game: Hanyu Pinyin & Singing Learning through Interactive Mobile Phone Game Application’ is a learning technique which uses games to educate in the classroom. It build up students’ interest in learning singing and Mandarin. By applying this game-based learning in choir class, students can utilise it as a breathing exercise and have better control on their quality and volume of sound while singing. Furthermore, this learning technique can also allow students to master different singing techniques such as falsetto and head voice. It shows that the virtual method of learning is attracting the students for WCC109 Choir course.
